Horner's 7 tips on acing a video interview

Video Interviewing Tips

The ability to shine in a video interview requires some skills and savvy beyond basic job interview best practices.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there has been a significant increase in the number of interviews being conducted by video rather than in-person for permanent roles as well as temporary, casual and contract roles too.

You don’t need to get awkward in front of the camera with our 7 top tips on how to ace a video interview…

  • Optimise your posture and positioning, adjust your seat so you’re in the frame.
  • Professional dress, wear the same attire you would for an in-person interview.
  •  Make sure you smile, but try not to be too goofy or laugh at every joke.
  • Control your fidgeting, make a concerted effort to be aware of your movements.
  • Calm your nerves, anxiety can sometimes make you overthink your responses.
  • Don’t multitask, focus only on the interview and leave other tasks for later.
  • Maintain good eye contact by finding a nice, smooth, natural gaze.

That’s it!
